Professor Kathy Oborn Completes 25 Years of Service to Phi Theta Kappa

Professor Kathy Oborn has been honored by Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) for 25 years of dedication as the advisor to the Alpha Pi Delta Chapter on the Pierce College campus. Professor Oborn has been instrumental in guiding generations of students through the values and opportunities of Phi Theta Kappa, the premier honor society for two-year colleges. Her service embodies the spirit of mentorship, academic excellence, and community engagement that defines PTK and aligns seamlessly with the mission and values of Pierce College. In recognition of her exceptional contributions, Phi Theta Kappa has sent a commemorative gift as an expression of gratitude. President Aracely Aguiar and the entire Pierce College community extend their appreciation to Professor Oborn. Her commitment to student empowerment and academic leadership continues to inspire the Pierce College family.

Pierce College Agricultural Education Centers Earns Prestigious Award of Excellence

The Agricultural Education Center at Los Angeles Pierce College was recognized with the prestigious New Construction in Higher Education at the Annual Construction Management Association of America 鈥 Southern California Awards gala. The two-acre project site was designed to integrate indoor and outdoor learning laboratories with features that mimic a real working farm for the College鈥檚 Plant Science & Horticulture program. 鈥淧ierce College is proud to honor our heritage as an agricultural college. The Agricultural Education Center expanded our ability to prepare students with today鈥檚 farming techniques and the diversity of plants,鈥 said Aracely Aguiar, Pierce College President. 鈥淭he greenhouses seamlessly integrate advanced sensor technologies into the learning environments, providing students real-time temperature, humidity, light levels, CO2 levels, and soil moisture data as part of their academic studies.鈥

Join us on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 9:00鈥痑m to 12:00鈥痯m at the Student Health Center on campus for an engaging Open House focused on mental health and wellness. Meet the center鈥檚 staff鈥攊ncluding nurses and psychologists鈥攁nd get assistance registering for TimelyCare, scheduling health center appointments, accessing community resources, and enrolling in health insurance. If you need accommodations or have questions about accessibility, please contact the Student Health Center at 818鈥710鈥4270.

Join the Pierce College community for Fresh Bodega on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM along The Mall, outside the Library. This on-campus food distribution event offers students access to fresh produce and non-perishable items at no cost. It's a great opportunity to stock up on healthy essentials and connect with campus resources.All students are welcome to attend.
